What is Bevel tool in 3D design?

(Shortcut: B)

The Bevel (also known as chamfer) function bevels your selected points, lines and faces. It's used to make your corners rounded or edges sharper when using a smooth tool. Drag the Bevel jog wheel offset to adjust the size of the bevel and segments to add to the number of segments.

There is a little difference between beveling points and lines, and beveling faces:

How to bevel points and lines

  1. Enter the Edit mode - double click on any object or start from scratch - add a new object in the left panel.
  2. Click on Bevel tool
  3. Select points or lines you want to Bevel.
  4. Use the jog to set parameters. It behaves like a knife that cuts the line or point off the object.

How to bevel faces

  1. Enter the Edit mode - double click on any object or start from scratch - add a new object in the left panel.
  2. Click on Bevel tool
  3. Select faces you want to Bevel.
  4. Use the jog to set parameters. This is a combination of beveling and extension.

Bevel tip: For beveling neighboring faces, there is a special Face group function in the Bevel jog wheel that allows you to group or separate the bevel between them.

Bevel tip 2: Use the bevel for low poly drawing.

Bevel tip 3: With bevel you can also adjust the shape of your smoothing - make edges of smoothed objects sharper and points more spiky.
