5. Meet the Workspace

All the tools and functions can be used or accessed with your mouse. To speed up your design, you may want to remember a few shortcuts to frequently used tools.

Every Vectary project opens in the 3D design tool. The workspace consists of the scene where 3D assets and objects such as the grid and lights are placed.

On the top bar you can find the main menu with Settings, the VECTARY logo, and the Undo and Redo arrows. The name of the project is in the middle, and the rendering switch and sharing options are on the far right side.

The Objects list can appear on the left side of the workspace. An icon in the lower left corner can switch on and off the visibility of this list. All objects are listed or grouped in this scrollable panel. You can set the visibility of each object, lock, rename, duplicate or delete one or multiple items from the Actions menu next to each item. New 3D models can be created and added to the list.

The 3D modeling toolbar appears in the lower middle of the workspace when you are in Edit mode. Depending on your selection, the toolbar will show only the available features and tools.

The properties for materials, color, lights and 3D text can be adjusted in the panel on the right side of the workspace. Most of the settings have an ON/OFF switch and can be individually toggled.

The library at the bottom is divided into five categories: 3D Assets, Materials, Lights, Environments and Add-ons. The library content is searchable. All items can be placed on the scene by dragging and dropping them on objects or on an empty area. Connect your account to online repositories to search for even more content.

The 3D cursor with arrows is called gizmo. It will be visible when you click an object on the scene. Using the gizmo, you can move, scale and rotate your selected objects.
