Deformer Tools

Our object modes a number of deformer tools that will help you modify your models. Ranging from bending objects to stretching or skewing them, you can find all of the deformers under one menu.  

Bend

  • Angle: sets the angle at which the object will be bent. Since you are setting the angle the unit is in degrees
  • Direction: sets the direction which the bend will be facing. The unit used is degrees as well
  • Helper direction: changes the axis rotation of the helper box 
  • Type: will set the limits of the deformer, if it will work only inside the helper box or outside of it 
  • Reset helper box: resets the size and position of the helper box, it is the refresh arrow located in the helper direction line

Twist

This deformer twists the object around its own axis. 

  • Angle: defines how many degrees the object will be twisted
  • Helper direction: changes the axis rotation of the helper box 
  • Reset helper box: resets the size and position of the helper box, it is the refresh arrow located in the helper direction line
  • Type: will set the limits of the deformer, if it will work only inside the helper box or outside of it

Taper

This deformer narrows objects on one end.

  • Strength: allows you to set the strength of the taper, in other words, how wide or narrow it will be 
  • Curvature: deforms a straight taper into a curved one. Changes are only noticeable if your model is divided into more segments
  • Helper direction: changes the axis rotation of the helper box 
  • Reset helper box: resets the size and position of the helper box, it is the refresh arrow located in the helper direction line
  • Taper type: will set the limits of the deformer, if it will work only inside the helper box or outside of it 
  • Fillet: affects the type of curvature

Skew

This deformer skews the selected object in the set direction.

  • Strength: sets the strength of the curve
  • Direction: sets the direction which the skew will be facing.
  • Curvature: sets the curvature of the skew. The higher the value the more curved the object
  • Helper direction: changes the axis rotation of the helper box 
  • Reset helper box: resets the size and position of the helper box, it is the refresh arrow located in the helper direction line
  • Skew type: will set the limits of the deformer, if it will work only inside the helper box or outside of it 
  • Fillet: affects the type of curvature

Bevel

The bevel tool is used to make your corners rounded or sharper depending on how you use it. 

  • Selection angle: sets the angle at which the corners and edges will be beveled
  • Segments: adds segments to your object
  • Offset: sets by how much the beveled corners and edges will be offset

Randomize

This deformer tools will randomize the position of objects and displace them on the scene in a random fashion. Randomize is especially useful when you apply it to a number of objects, saving you the time it would take to place the objects manually. 

  • Position: defines the position of the objects between each other
  • Scale: defines the amount of scale that is applied to the objects
  • Rotation: defines the angle of the objects 
  • Seed: calculates different random positions 
  • Distribution: sets the distribution type based on probability theory

Noise

This deformer uses a number of object segments to deform the object’s structure and surface. Most suitable for creating water surfaces and terrains.

  • Amount: sets the amount of deformation applied to the various segments
  • Scale: sets the scale of the random deformation
  • Levels: sets the amount of the visible distortion
  • Curve: sets the strength of the curve visible on the object’s surface
  • Fit helper: aligns the helper box with an object
  • Noise type: will set the limits of the deformer, if it will work only inside the helper box or outside of it

Stretch

This deformer stretches an object on its axis.

  • Factor: defines the strength of the stretch that is applied to the object
  • Helper direction: changes the axis orientation of the helper box. The change will be visible on either the x, y or z axes. 
  • Reset: resets the size and position of the helper box, it is the refresh arrow located in the helper direction line
  • Stretch type: will set the limits of the deformer, if it will work only inside the helper box or outside of it

Subdivision surface

The Subdivision Surface uses an algorithm to subdivide and round the object. This is an extremely quick and simple way to create organic forms.

  • Level: defines the strength of subdivisions that are applied on to the object, which means the higher the strength the more rounded the object.

Spherify

The Spherify deformer attempts to transform the object into a spherical shape.

  • Strength: defines the strength of the spherification that is applied to the object
  • Fit helper: aligns the helper box with an object
  • Spherify type: will set the limits of the deformer, if it will work only inside the helper box or outside of it
