Vectary unlocks CAD access for the automotive industry

Vectary platform bridges the gap between teams working with 3D files and the departments who can benefit from having quick access to them. Let us show you how to integrate it in our 3D workflow.

What sets us apart?

Accessibility

Once uploaded, every member of the workspaces can access projects online. (No need to download a complex offline software).

Sharing

Maximize projects by sharing them as links to provide intuitive and interactive experience (the viewer doesn’t need a Vectary account).

Collaboration

No more numerous 2D image exchanges through emails. Collaborate and comment directly in the design to speed up workflows.

Security

Projects are created, shared and stored online in a private environment certified by ISO 27001, GDPR, and CCPA regulations.

What CAD file formats does Vectary support?

Vectary supports import of STEP (STP) and IGES (IGS) CAD file formats. It also supports FBX, OBJ, GLB, GLTF, or STL file formats (if CAD is already converted into mesh geometry).

Which seat types does Vectary provide, and are there options for non-technical users?

Enterprise account owner (Admin)
The enterprise account owner is the primary account holder responsible for the contract, workspace creation, management, and billing. This role has managerial privileges, overseeing all features and functionalities within the workspace.

Manager
Managers are the highest-ranking role within a workspace, tasked with overseeing member access, permissions, and project editng and sharing. They can add, remove, and approve member requests, move projects between workspaces, and make projects public. Managers have full editing capabilities in studio and ensure secure workspace management.

Editor
Editors have full editing capabilities and are typically involved in working with 3D data, importing CAD files, and creating interactions and animations. They can create folders and move projects within their workspace but cannot delete projects or move them outside the workspace. Editors can be internal team members or external professionals managed by workspace managers.

Collaborator
Collaborators have workspace access, but are limited to viewing or commenting on projects only. They cannot edit projects, ensuring project integrity. Collaborators must be approved by a manager to join.

Viewer
Viewers have access only to projects they have a link for (also private links). They cannot edit, comment or see other members. This is practically used for external people you want to share projects with.  Managers can grant and revoke access.

How secure is the platform?

Vectary is designed with the highest enterprise security standards:

- Data encryption (SSL/TLS)
- Access control (workspace sharing, private access)
- SSO (optional)
- Email verification
- GDPR compliance
- ISO certification
- Payment processing via Paddle
- Vectary's encrypted proprietary format for shared projects (no file download from network tab)
- Regular security audits and updates

How long does it take to implement Vectary in our automotive workflow?

Implementing Vectary into your workflow is designed to be immediate and seamless. Here are the key aspects:

Immediate setup and quick onboarding:
Since Vectary is cloud-based, there’s no need for complicated installations or setup. Once you sign up, your team can start using the platform immediately. The intuitive interface makes it easy for both technical and non-technical users to get up to speed quickly.

Admin control and centralized management:
The workspace manager has full control over user access and permissions. They can assign roles such as editor or viewer, ensuring that team members have the appropriate level of access to projects and tools.

Private sharing option lets admins move projects across workspaces and manage who can view or edit them, keeping sensitive projects secure within the team.

System Requirements:
Web-based: Vectary runs entirely in the browser, so there’s no need for high-end hardware or software installations. It works on most modern browsers (like Chrome or Firefox) and requires a stable internet connection.

Cross-device compatibility:
Since it's cloud-based, Vectary is accessible from any device with internet access, including laptops, desktops, tablets and phones, making it versatile for team members working remotely or on different systems.

Integration with existing tools for file import/export:
Vectary supports a variety of 3D file formats, making it easy to integrate with your existing automotive design tools. You can import models from other software and export them as needed to maintain continuity in your workflow.

Collaboration features:
This streamlined collaboration ensures that your team can implement Vectary without disrupting your current workflow. Multiple editors can work in the same workspace, and viewers can interact with the models.
